8. Bibliothekskongress Leipzig 2022
The 8th German Library Congress will take place from Tuesday, 31 May 2022, to Thursday, 2 June 2022, at the Congress Center Leipzig. Under this year’s motto “#CreatingFreeSpaces” the Congress invites participants to join the discussions on both current and future challenges and issues facing the library and information sector. Aat Vos, includi’s creative director, will join the group discussion “Clever & Smart” about the so-called fourth place, the library as multimedia information space.

Architecture of Libraries (Prague)
The Goethe-Institut in Prague, Czech Republic, closely cooperates with the Association of Library and Information Professionals of the Czech Republic. June 7-8th 2022 both organisations cooperate on the conference “Architecture of the Libraries in Ostrava”. On the 8th of June our creative director Aat Vos will give an online lecture on the topic of libraries as inclusive third places, including the work of includi for the Goethe-Institut.

PAST EVENTS
Liber Architecture Group Seminar 2022
From April 27 to April 29, the Luxembourg Learning Center of the University of Luxembourg will host the Liber Architecture Group seminar in Belval, Luxembourg. The refurbished former industrial site is located in the city of Esch-sur-Alzette – the European Capital of Culture 2022. Our creative director Aat Vos will give a presentation about “How to Create a Relevant Public Space” during the session on “Designing user-focused spaces”.

Lecture about the library as a third place
University library OsloMet in Oslo, Norway, organizes an inspiration day for its new library project. Creative Director Aat Vos is invited to give a lecture about ‘the concept of the library as a third place’.

Karl Preusker Medal Ceremony
Aat Vos will receive the Karl Preusker Medal on October 28 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. The laudation will be held by B. Joseph Pine II, speaker and co-author of “The Experience Economy”. The private event will be live streamed from 16:00. Livestream can be watched HERE.

Lecture Norwegian Association of Interior Architects (NIL)
During his lecture for the Norwegian Association of Interior Architects (NIL) Aat Vos will inform the audience about the essentials of successful ‘3RD4ALL’; about the right balance between physical elements like context and content, and non-physical elements like communication and competencies, as that is what makes public spaces a success.

Probiblio Netwerkdag Zuid-Holland
For this regional network event of Probiblio Aat Vos was asked to contribute with a video about third places in rural areas. A summary of the program can be watched HERE.

Lecture Aedes Woningcorporaties
Aedes is the trade association of housing corporations in the Netherlands. Aat Vos was invited to give a lecture on Third Places, social infrastructure and the liveable city.

Lecture at Kunst.Kultur.Kongress
What do Third Places contribute to their communities? A list of possible answers might be endless, and yet, they provide meeting and thinking spaces. In his lecture at Kunst.Kultur.Kongress in Würzburg (Germany), our Creative Director Aat Vos will talk about Third Places as activation spaces that cater for encounters and foster civic responsibility.

Talk at Kompetenzzentrum “Lokale Ökonomien am Niederrhein”
What is the retail sector’s responsibility towards communities? And how do local stores, hair salons or bakeries contribute to more inclusivity? In his talk at Kompetenzzentrum “Lokale Ökonomien am Niederrhein”, our Creative Director Aat Vos will discuss the importance of social infrastructure and how it is again the small things, like small talk that could make the biggest difference.

Talk at The Future Design of Streets
How can streets turn into Third Places and become urban hotspots? During his contribution to the third session of this year’s edition of the webinar series “The Future Design of Streets”, our Creative Director Aat Vos will share his insights on how the experience factor can elevate streets to a higher level and join the discussion along with his co-commentators Andres Sevtsuk and Juan Carlos Romero as well as moderator Daniel Casas Valle. Virtual Keynote at Büchereizentrale Schleswig-Holstein
Third Places are not only an integral part of urban environments but arguably even more so in rural areas. In a virtual keynote, our Creative Director Aat Vos will give impulses to rethink the concept of mobile libraries in Schleswig-Holstein (Germany) and how they can contribute to further activating the social infrastructure in rural areas.
